Seventh morning came about, and Jobric healed some Burd from the weakness the nightly visitors had caused, and helped Zig Zag as well.
Scouting around the camp, Gronthor spotted one of the mosquitos sucking on some tree-like creature, and shot the mosquito. The tree-like creature turned out to be a dinosaur of some sort, and it simply walked away.
After a day of peaceful walk, the party arrived at a ruins half buried by the swamp. Radagast and Gronthor went to investigate, but were attacked by crocodiles. After killing them they scouted some more, and found bodies of creatures that were a mix between a lizard and an orc. There was a dark temple in the middle of the ruined city, and some signs that some kind of humanoids had claimed ownership of the old city. The party left in a hurry to find a safer spot for the night.
Eight day passed quietly, but on the morning of the ninth the party woke to lod screeches. They saw a flock of the flightless birds being attacked by some predator lizards. The birds stampeded towards the camp. The catastrophe was mostly avoided by Burd who cast a spell in front of the birds: the grass and bushes became an animated mass of tentacles that snatched two of the birds, which was enough to steer the rest of the flock another direction. That day the party reached the river.
Several monotonious days later (16th to be exact), having avoided more lizard-orcs, the party discovered a nest of eggs on the banks of the river. They watched some turtle-like creatures hatch and disappear into the river. They were no ordinary turtles though, which was proved by their crab like claws. Burd spotted the mother or father in the middle of the river, and the party decided to leave the eggs in peace.
On the 18th day it appeared they were finally getting out of the Cursed Lands. They saw a small fort on the other side of the river that housed perhaps a dozen men. Zig Zag also realized Burd had drunk all of his wine while he was asleep!
After some more riding they saw a dust cloud in the distance. After a while they saw a rider galloping full speed towards them, and past them, followed a bit later by soldiers in pursuit. Hadnir deducted the fugitive must be one of the Shardmakers. The soldiers divided, half of them continuing the pursuit and the other half facing the party.
Immediately there was the problem of languages, but luckily one of the soldiers knew North Speak and was able to act as an interpreter. Things were far from merry, however. The leader of the soldiers wanted the party to give up their weapons and follow the soldiers to their fort for questioning. After some careful negotiations where Zig Zag lost his weapon to the soldiers, and Burd paid 50 gold for their troubles, it was agreed the party would place the remaining weapons on their mule, and ride with the soldiers to their fort.
The party spent the night in a locked room. In the morning they were dragged to meet the prefect. He had a strange man besdies him, who cast some spells and the prefect was able to talk to the party, and question them. Somehow Hadnir blurted out the opposite of what he intended to say, but it was worse with Zig Zag: the prefect was very glad of the wolves, and offered money as payment (it was obvious he was not going to take no for an answer). Zig Zag got really upset, which in turn got the prefect upset. Zig Zag ended up promising to deliver some other beast instead of the wolves in two days. Some spell was placed on Zig Zag which made sure at least he would obey, or he would die.
The rest of the party was not at all pleased, but there was nothing they could do. They were showed out of the fort with minimal gear. After fighting among themselves for a good half hour, the party decided to go try and find a wild beast suitable for circus enjoyment.
Burd talked to a small rabbit, with the help of a spell, which told him there was a cave nearby where a big, brown, hungry beast lived. Burd and Hadnir easily located a cave of what appeared to belong to a large bear. They attracted the bear easily with food, but their plan did not work very well when people scattered abound, even though Hadnir was yelling everyone to circle the beast and attack it at the same time with blunt weapons (in order to not kill it). Finally he and Zig Zag got the bear in between them, and they started raining blows on it. The bear was very strong, and hugged Zig Zag in a deadly embrace. Only Burd's desperate charge with a stick of wood saved Zig Zag from near certain death.
With some difficulty they half carried, half dragged the huge bear to the fort. The prefect was pleased, and let Zig Zag keep his wolves.
The party traveled for two day to the bridge that lead them into the Capernaum proper. They had to pay/bribe to get papers to enter. They also hired a translator, Scippio, and started towards the City of Capernaum.
